The Electrical Inspectorate is headed by the Chief Electrical Inspector appointed under section 162 of Electricity Act 2003. Its headquarter is situated in Block -29, SDA Complex, Kasumpti, Shimla-171009. In administering and enforcing the provisions of various Acts and Rules, Chief Electrical Inspector H.P. is assisted by an Electrical Inspector, Assistant Electrical Inspectors, Technical Assistants and ministerial staff. There are five regional offices viz. Shimla-I, Shimla II, Mandi, Hamirpur and Dalhousie. Out of these five regional offices, two regional offices viz., Shimla-I and Shimla-II are located in the headquarters at Shimla itself. The other three regional offices are at Mandi, Hamirpur and Dalhousie (Chamba). Each regional office is headed by Assistant Electrical Inspector. Technical Assistants & Non-Technical staff at headquarters and regional offices help the departmental head in smooth conduct of day to day work.
